Description:
Saprobic on host. Sexual morph: Ascomata 250–500 µm diam., 240–350 µm high, scattered, immersed to erumpent, dark brown to black globose to subglobose, uniloculate, coriaceous, ostiolate. Ostiole 80–102 µm black to dark brown, filled with brown periphyses. Peridium 50–90 µm 2-layered, consisting of black, coriaceous cells, heavily pigmented thick-walled of textura angularis. Hamathecium 3.5–5.5 µm of dense, septate, broad, branched cellular pseudo paraphyses, anastomosing above the asci, embedded in a gelatinous matrix. Asci 115–145 µm × 25–30 µm (x̅ = 130.9 × 27.4 µm, n = 10), 8-spored, bitunicate, fissitunicate, cylindro-clavate to clavate, with long pedicel and well-developed ocular chamber. Ascospores 29–30 µm × 13–14 µm (x̅ = 29.6 × 13.8 µm, n = 10), biseriate, partially overlapping, ellipsoid to oval, straight or somewhat curved, yellowish-brown to dark brown internally finely verruculose with appendages cover both ends when mature. Asexual morph: Unknown.
Material examined: Cuba, Herradura, on twigs of Citrus sp. (Rutaceae), 15 January 1925, N.E. Stevens (FLAS-F-62307, isotype).
