Dematiotubeufia Y.Z. Lu, Boonmee & K.D. Hyde, in Lu et al., Fungal Diversity 92: 160 (2018).
Index Fungorum number: IF 554828; Facesoffungi number: FoF 04705, 1 morphological species (Species Fungorum 2022), 1 species with molecular data.
Saprobic on decaying wood. Sexual morph: Ascomata superficial, solitary, scattered, oval to subglobose, seated on a subiculum, dark brown to black, with a central ostiole. Ostiole single, central, with white velvety appendix. Peridium composed of cells of textura angularis, with inner cells brown and outer cells dark brown. Hamathecium comprising numerous, filiform, septate, branched pseudoparaphyses. Asci 8-spored, bitunicate, cylindrical, pedicellate, apically rounded. Ascospores biseriate, cylindric to fusiform, tapering towards rounded ends, straight to slightly curved, guttulate, multi-septate, hyaline, smooth-walled. Asexual morph: Unknown (adapted from Lu et al. 2018).
Type species: Dematiotubeufia chiangraiensis (Boonmee & K.D. Hyde) Y.Z. Lu
Notes: Dematiotubeufia is characterised by superficial, solitary, scattered ascomata, cylindrical, pedicellate, apically rounded asci and cylindric to fusiform ascospores. Dematiotubeufia is phylogenetically closely related to Kamalomyces, Helicoarctatus and Neohelicoma. Dematiotubeufia is morphologically distinguishable from other genera in Tubeufiaceae by the dark brown to black, shiny ascomata with distinct ostioles (Boonmee et al. 2014). Dematiotubeufia is morphologically and phylogenetically a distinct genus in Tubeufiaceae. Only TEF-1 sequence data is available for Dematiotubeufia in GenBank.
